Meet Rose the Ragdoll
If you know me well, you know that I'm obsessed with kittens (and really, all animals). My perfect #SelfCareSunday involves animal cuddles, and over the past year, I've fallen in love with a specific cat breed: ragdolls.
I've been (not so) secretly dreaming of getting a lil' ragdoll kitten for a while now. Literally, following breeders like @flowerbabyragdolls on instagram and watching kitten live feeds every night (my version of reality TV).
Being a busy person/founder/millennial who *doesn’t quite have everything together* it’s been easy to make excuses as to why I shouldn't get a pet: they're a lot of responsibility, they're a big commitment, they cost money, I travel too much. But, one friend told me, there will always be reasons not to - but if you really want one, you'll find a way to make it work.
Kind of like everything in life… If you want it bad enough, you’ll find a way to make it happen.
So when my friend Ashley told me she was getting a kitten - a ragdoll kitten! – and that the breeder still had some available, it was a sign. I reserved my little fluff ball (a blue-eyed, tortie point ragdoll) and called her Rose.
At 10 weeks, Ash & I went on a little road trip to PEI to pick up our sister kitties. I think Ashley is the only other person who is JUST as kitten crazy as I am, so it worked out kind of perfectly that we could obsess over our new loves together.
When I first brought her home, she was pretty timid, but warmed up after a couple hours. I was adamant about not having her sleep in bed with us – but the first night, she crawled and cuddled up next to us, we were done.
We’ve only had her one week now and I can’t imagine not having her. Pets truly are the best therapy. She is so hilarious, playful, clumsy, and adorable. Like a puppy, she wags her tail when she’s happy, and follows you around whenever you get up and walk around the house. She loves playing with golf balls, and jumping on the covers when we’re in bed. She’s also obsessed with cell phones (??? Is this a cat thing???) and will literally scroll down my Facebook feed for me. She’s 21st century brilliant, okay?
If you’re a cat person, you can follow along our kitten adventures at @rosetheragdoll. Even if you’re not a cat person – she’s pretty darn cute, and you might just fall in love. I sure did.
