The past few months have been full of big decisions.
What to do next, where to go, how big to dream...
When in doubt? Surround yourself with people who are smarter than you. This is my *trick* for all big decisions, major milestone moments and *everyday life*. When you're the least accomplished person in the room, you will learn leaps and bounds from those around you. So with everything that's been changing (and plans coming together for 2017/2018) I had to go to L.A. to meet up with some of the people who inspire me the most!
@aeriallynn is a yoga/mindfulness influencer who modelled for Wear Your Label last year, yet I'd never actually met her in person. We caught up for brunch at Bondi Harvest & it felt like I'd known her forever. We got real about mental health things, WYL, and influencer marketing. Plus, her dogs are too cute for life.
A few weeks ago, we added another 30 Brand Ambassador's to Wear Your Label's influencer program. A few of them are based in LA & we met up for donuts + photoshoots by the Santa Monica Pier. First of all - Sidecar Doughnuts is amaaaazing (a must-go if you're in Santa Monica). Secondly - I am so grateful for the WYL family, and being surrounded by like-minded people who "get it".
Coffee & Avocado Toast
You can't go to L.A. without eating avocado toast. I tried to fill up my week with lots of meetings (and avo toast). From a Founder's Lunch in Encinitas (shout out to Dan Martell for organizing), to catching up with Kait & Kat (the gals behind KaitKat Creative). We talked about side hustles and upcoming projects... *fingers crossed on future collabs*
Brainstorming & Creating
Val is one of my biggest inspirations - she has done so many amazing things (from movie marketing, to running Depressed Cake Shop), and she is one of the coolest, sweetest, authentic humans I know. Spending the week at her house was the perfect boost of confidence for moving forward with everything I've been masterminding for the past couple months.
"Empowered women empower women."
One of my besties, Sarah, was also in L.A. for casting calls this month, so we met up for tacos (duh). Not only is Sarah one of the nicest/most genuine people I know, she is also a huge source of support & motivation. Can't wait to see what's next for her & reconnect back in Canada!
I'm still putting together all the pieces from the past 2 weeks. After leaving L.A., I flew to Toronto for more meetings and our final pitch for the Joe Fresh Centre. I felt (and am still feeling) so motivated to get sh*t done and push forward into summer with new projects & partnerships.
Disconnecting from your current environment - physically getting away - can be so helpful in finding a fresh perspective, and gaining inspiration for what's ahead. I can't waaaait to share it with you all. Stay tuned.
