14 Resolutions for 2016

1. Wake up with your first alarm.  

*This will probably be the hardest thing I do all year. 

This sloth is my spirit animal, okay? But the thought of having 1-2 extra hours every single day to get sh*t done is way too appealing to my resolute-2016-self.

2. Drink water.

Am I the only one who drinks 4 coffees a day and then wonders why my body hates me?? True mystery.

3. Find a hobby. 

The other day someone asked me what I do for fun.  I said, "Work."

Seriously. ^^ Or at least find a hobby to do completely for myself, no work or strings attached.
Self-care isn't selfish, right? 

4. Read more.

5. Turn your phone off 2 hours before bed.

Wow, okay don't freak out. We are all addicted to our phones. 
Replying to e-mails late at night? The world will not come to an end if you wait until 9am. 
Mindlessly scrolling through Facebook until you fall asleep? Replace that time with reading. I guarantee you'll feel 50x better about your self-esteem and you might actually learn something.

 6. Be okay with making mistakes. 

They bring you closer to success. Until you start seeing that, you'll never get there.

7. Create > consume. 

*Not everyone is an artist. The idea of creating something from nothing does not appeal to the masses. We're accustomed to consuming endlessly the things that other people create. But for the 5% of us who crave expression or dream big ideas and find excuses not act on it - make this year about creation.

8. Stop using "busy" as an excuse. 

It's okay to be busy. Everybody's busy. But it's also everybody's favourite excuse. It's okay to just own up to needing time for yourself. Stop impressing people with your busyness.

 9. Procrastinate a little bit less.

*Probably the least likely to keep this one. There's a reason I didn't write this until Dec. 31

10. Minimize your life. 

You do not need 7 pairs of jeans and 23 pairs of shoes. You do not need anything you haven't worn or used in the past year. Sell it, donate it, get rid of it. Clear your life of unnecessary "stuff".

11. Mend old wounds, and move on. 

Send that apology text, unfollow your ex, do whatever you gotta do to put it behind ya. It's a new year with new chapters to write.

12. Do that thing you've been scared to start. 

Whether it's a new yoga class, a new business idea, or anything in between. Just do it. If not now, when? The longer you put it off, the less likely you are to actually start. So go on. Do that thing you've been scared to start.  

13. Put effort into your relationships.

Stop being overly comfortable. Stop taking loved ones for granted. Call instead of text. Turn your phone off at dinner. Buy their favourite snack and surprise them after a long day. Stop complaining about how we date now, and be the exception.

14. Take time for yourself.

And don't feel guilty about it. You can't pour from an empty cup.
